New Rules from June 2024: What Will Change from June 1st?
From June 1, 2024, several new rules and regulations will come into effect. Here’s a summary of what to expect: June 2024 New Rules
Changes in Petroleum Prices
On the first day of each month, prices for LPG cylinders and other petroleum products are revised. Petroleum companies usually announce these changes at midnight on the last day of the month. It’s anticipated that on June 1, 2024, there could be changes in the prices of LPG, petrol, and diesel. Previously, in May, there was a reduction in the prices of commercial cylinders. Therefore, a change in prices in June is also possible. Any adjustments will be confirmed by midnight on May 31, 2024.
Easier Driving License Process
New transportation rules are set to be implemented starting June 1. Obtaining a driving license will become easier as it will no longer be mandatory to take the driving test exclusively at RTOs. From June 1, you can take the driving test at government-recognized private institutions, making the process more convenient.
Stricter Traffic Rules
New traffic regulations will impose stricter penalties. Violations by individuals under 18 years old will result in fines up to ₹25,000. Additionally, the offending driver’s license will be revoked, and they will be barred from obtaining a new one for up to 25 years. Other traffic violations will also incur fines:
- Speeding: ₹1,000 – ₹2,000
- Driving without a license: ₹500
- Not wearing a helmet: ₹100
- Not wearing a seat belt: ₹100
Free Aadhaar Updates Until June 14
According to UIDAI, if you haven’t updated your Aadhaar card in the past 10 years, you can do so for free until June 14, 2024, via the UIDAI portal. After this date, there may be a fee for updates. You can update your Aadhaar card online or at an Aadhaar center. Updates at Aadhaar centers will cost ₹50, while online updates are currently free.
Bank Holidays in June
Banks will be closed for a total of 12 days in June due to various public holidays, including Eid al-Adha and Vat Savitri Vrat. The RBI has listed these holidays on its official website. Additionally, banks in some states will be closed on June 1 for the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections. Plan your banking activities accordingly. Online banking services will remain available even on holidays.
PAN-Aadhaar Linking Deadline
The Income Tax Department has notified taxpayers to link their PAN with Aadhaar by May 31 to avoid higher TDS rates. Failure to link PAN with Aadhaar by this date will result in TDS being deducted at twice the usual rate from June 1.
