PM Vishwakarma Yojana: On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a special scheme for the country’s artisans and craftsmen. The PM Vishwakarma Yojana will provide financial assistance for skill development and business growth to artisans. During the launch of the scheme, PM Modi said, ‘Under PM Vishwakarma Yojana, the government will provide a loan of up to 3 lakh rupees without any guarantee. The Indian government has decided that initially a loan of 1 lakh rupees will be given in two slots. 1 lakh rupees will be given initially, and later, a loan of 2 lakh rupees will be given to Vishwakarma associates.

What is the Vishwakarma Yojana?

Vishwakarma Yojana is a new scheme initiated by the central government. Its objective is to provide financial assistance to artisans and craftsmen. This 13,000 crore rupees scheme will assist workers in the unorganized sector to enhance their skills. Under this scheme, artisans can avail loans of up to 3 lakh rupees at very nominal interest rates. Additionally, registered Vishwakarma workers receive skill training programs, allowances, and special identification.

What are the Benefits of Vishwakarma Yojana?

The primary goal of the scheme is to improve the quality and reach of products and services of artisans and craftsmen, as well as ensure their integration into local and global value chains. In the first year, five lakh families will be covered, and over a period of five years from FY24 to FY28, a total of 30 lakh families will be included. Vishwakarma Yojana has several benefits:

– All potential beneficiaries will be registered for free through common service centers using the biometric-based PM Vishwakarma portal.

– Nominated artisans will receive recognition in the form of PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card through basic and advanced training for skill development. Additionally, they will receive incentives for digital transactions and marketing.
